The PAD10 is a 10-channel pulse amplifier/discriminator to detect the output signals of 10 CEMs for counting purposes. It is intended to be used near the CEMs and can drive remote counters over fairly long coaxial 50 Ohm cables.
Cable length is uncritical (up to ~ 2 m), but should be chosen not unnecessarily long and be implemented with 50 Ohm coaxial cable with high shielding in order to avoid noise coupling, e.g. RG 223/U.
The PAD10 amplifies the pulses, compares them to a fixed threshold, and generates a NIM output pulse - 1 V into 50 Ohm if the threshold is overdriven.
